About Us

Our History

Transchem formed - Founder, Murray Ewing, a Chemical Technologist by schooling, developed formulations for touchless truck washing, to be used in his mobile truck washing business. Manufacturing was contracted out to a local blender and the product line grew to provide a broader range of products for the growing, franchised mobile truck wash business. Over time, trucking companies and industrial cleaning companies began inquiring about purchasing these products – thus began the commercial sale of Transchem products.

Murray sells his mobile truck washing business to focus on Transchem and the cleaning chemical market.  Murray’s oldest son, Nathan, joins Murray and they begin selling products in the Ontario market in Canada.

The Transchem product line grows to a full line of presoaks, foaming detergents, degreasers and aluminum cleaners but carwash cleaning chemicals aren’t part of the line until 1989, the first year Transchem sold products to a carwash.

Transchem gradually adds administrative, sales and delivery personnel over the next several years, many who are still with the company today.

Murray’s youngest son, Tim, joins Transchem, learns the manufacturing side of the business and subsequently starts manufacturing all products in house.

Steady growth in the Canadian and US marketplace, notably in the private label and custom blending aspects of the business, requires regular addition of personnel.

After moving into several buildings in Cambridge, Ontario as growth required, Transchem builds it’s first manufacturing and distribution facility on Werlich Drive in 1999 – a 12,000 square foot facility the company called home for 12 years.

Having outgrown the space, the company purchases 4 acres of land on Franklin Blvd and builds a 32,000 square foot facility and moves to the new facility in November of 2011.

A year later, Transchem purchases the industrial carwash division of Turtle Wax®, Inc. which is operated as Turtle Wax Pro, and opens a sales office Chicago, Illinois.

Over the past several years Transchem has become involved in the technology side of the carwash industry with CarWash Finder and in January 2015, purchased the Ontario-based distributor KenPro Limited which is involved in the sales and service of carwash and pressure wash equipment in Ontario and in manufacturing a line of pressure wash systems sold across North America.

KenPro recently moved into a new 12,000 square foot facility in Kitchener, Ontario and Transchem is in the planning stages of adding 30,000 additional square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space at its Franklin location.

Transchem looks forward to future growth and success for all of its employees, customers and friends.
